He never changes shape: a small person in a cloak of pink harpy feathers, and the smell of mango arrives before he does. God of the Chull Kobolds, for whom labour is worship — his Compass, at the heart of their temple, reshapes the ground itself. He is the one who named Celeste the pivot of fate. And he is a prisoner: the spider queen took him and Kronos down into hell, and what walks Tyria is only a part of him.

Time · Lawful Neutral

Time does not belong to him — he is time. The pact that lets Empirium move is his; the Horn that tore six months out of the world was his. Prince Altof Doombringer is one of his seeds, and there are several: not copies, all of them Altof, the original being the god himself. His unbound face still wanders the Maelstrom as the Devourer of Hours, half-corporeal, rising from the Well of Chaos whenever the chaos peaks. He too is a prisoner of the spider queen.

Dawn, light, redemption · Lawful Good

His temple in Borak has no roof: the altar of gilded marble is cut to catch the first ray. Every morning a war horn sounds and five hundred orcs of the Fist of Dawn strike their chests through the Hymn of the First Ray. He is the god who accepted Gromch Gar — an orc barbarian — and made a priest of him. Beneath the temple sleeps the Hammer of Voss. His is the widest bloodline in Tyria, and the one the whole war is fought over.

The builder demigod. He shaped the Minotaurs out of stone and bull’s blood to raise Empirium, the labyrinth-city whose walls live. His Plate now holds Altof’s castle outside of time. In the ruins of Kelexxor his crypt keeps the Mask of Truth and a stable door to the Shadow Plane — and the Ancient Nhéill, whom he did not kill: he kept him in service, as a magical battery. For Skelos the work comes before the people in it.

The orcs · Chaotic Neutral

The orc god. He took the place of a predecessor, and his temple is one of the four on the acropolis of Kaligerous — beside Zeus, Artimis and Kronos, in a city where the cults fight for influence and the disputes end in riots. The orcs changed god. They did not change hero.

Storm, rage, tempest, murder · Chaotic Evil

He did not rule the rain. He ruled what bursts. Nobody prayed to be spared — they prayed for it to land on someone else, and his temple was a Temple of Blood in more than name. Altof raised the Temporal Horn under his vault, six months were torn out of the world, and Baal went with them. His sky has been open ever since, and the south has never found a master for it.

Protection, faces, guardian of the line · Lawful Neutral

Ubato’s protector, and he only half hides it. Full silver plate; two gemstones set into the breastplate like watching eyes; a belt whose buckle is unmistakably a mimic’s toothed mouth. Over it all, a green cloak covered in painted eyes — and the painted eyes are his real ones. He arrives on a smell of kiwi, the way Ubato arrives on mango. He guards Ubato’s interests, and he raised the children of his line himself. Under borrowed faces he has been mayor of Bridgeroe for eighty-seven years: he took the town after the plague emptied it and repopulated it with his own spawn. He is Mayor Aldric in council, the fishwife Gerda on the docks, a travelling priest out on the islets. Only Lydia Alboreg knows what he is. His failed spawn still hide in the canals.

The whisper, deception · Neutral Evil

Not a god of the pantheon — what is left when a god has been forgotten long enough. He holds the South Dead Land without a body, and his bloodline is the only one that corrupts everyone who carries it.

Black magic, forgotten secrets · Neutral Evil

A god of black magic and forgotten secrets who took a throne of his own. He rules the North Dead Land from a doorless pyramid and wars on the Awakened for the souls in it — which puts him against Odin, who takes the worthy, and against Hel, who claims the rest. His bloodline is Black Blood, pure corruption, flagged in the engine as NPC-only: no player carries it.

Older than the known gods · Unknowable

Sealed on the ocean floor behind adamantine, older than every god on this page, and larger than Xalthar. The faithful of the Lumen Vet pray without pause beside the cage, and that prayer is the only reason the deep stays down.
